AIR INDIA'S "SENIOR CITIZEN COMPANION FARE" OFFERS BIG SAVINGS ON EXECUTIVE CLASS FLIGHTS TO INDIA

Two Seniors 62 Years of Age and Older Traveling Together Save a Minimum of $1,300 Each On Roundtrip Flights to Delhi or Mumbai (TRAVPR.COM) UNITED STATES - March 26th, 2012 - Air India announced its new "Senior Citizen Companion Fare," which offers two travelers 62+ years of age who fly together a savings of at least $1,300 each off published roundtrip Executive Class fares to Delhi or Mumbai. The special roundtrip fare of $3,423 per person is available from JFK or Newark Airports, and includes all taxes, airport and security fees and fuel surcharges.  In addition, the Senior Citizen Companion Fare is available from Chicago's O'Hare Airport to Delhi at $3,573 per person, inclusive of all taxes and fees.  The fare is good for travel Monday through Thursday in both directions, with departures from the U.S. through October 15, 2012.  Tickets must be purchased by September 30th. The minimum stay in India is 21 days and the maximum stay is six (6) months, and both passengers must travel together on the same outbound and return flights. For traveling companions whose final destination is beyond Delhi or Mumbai, Air India is also offering special add-on fares to over 50 other major cities throughout India, with one free stopover permitted in Delhi or Mumbai.   Senior Citizen Companion Fares are subject to the following "blackout" periods: eastbound from June 1 to August 12, 2012; westbound from August 1 to September 12, 2012 and from December 20, 2012 to January 30, 2013.Seats at these special fares are limited and may not be available on all flights. Cancellation penalties, and other conditions and restrictions apply. Fares are subject to change without notice.  All of Air India's flights to India from JFK and Newark Airports are non-stop, and operated with spacious Boeing 777's. ORDER

The Administrator, U.T. of Lakshadweep is pleased to formulate the

following scheme for providing concession to Senior Citizens in passenger fare

in ships/vessels operated by U.T. of Lakshadweep Administration.

Application :  All types of journeys in ships/vessels of UTL Administration

   operated between mainland-island and inter-island.

Fares : 20% concession in all class of accommodation.

Documentation : Senior Citizen's discount will be offered on submission any

   one of the following documents alongwith the prescribed ship

   ticket application form.

   (a) Resident identity card issued to islanders by Sub Division

   Officers/Deputy Collectors of concerned islands having

   specified date of birth of the card holder.

   (b) Valid Indian Passport.

  (c) Certificate from employer from Government Organization

       or Public Sector Undertaking where the senior citizen was

       employed.

Eligibility :  Male/Female senior citizens residing permanently in

   Lakshadweep and who have completed the age of 60 years

   on the date of commencement of journey.

The Senior Citizen will have to produce the proof of identity and age at

the time of checking-in/boarding point/and during the journey on demand by the

authority. In case of senior citizens travelling on concession, who do not produce

a g e   p r o o f   o n   d e m a n d ,   t h e   d i f f e r e n c e   o f   c o n c e s s i o n a l   f a r e   p a i d   a n d

non-concessional fare payable shall be charged.

This issues with the approval of Administrator vide Diary No. 5353 dated

14-11-2011.

Male Senior Citizens Railway Concession raised to 40%

Rly Fare relief for male senior citizens

On the suggestion and appeal of Delhi Social Welfare Minister, Kiran Walia, for granting/extending relief and concession in Rail Travel to male senior citizens equivalent to female senior citizens, the Minister of Railways, Government of India, has agreed and granted relief to male senior citizens from 30 per cent to 40 per cent and also has reduced the age of women senior citizens from 60 years to 58 years. Walia in August 2010 appealed to the Rail Minister to enhance the concession in rail fare from 30 per cent to 50 per cent to the male senior citizens equivalent to the women senior citizens who were already granted rail fare concession to 50 per cent on the argument that there should be no distinction on the basis of gender, sex, caste, creed and religion.
