Free knee screenings for senior citizens

MUMBAI: The elderly-especially in Borivali will be able to avail free
knee screenings for a whole month. Apex Hospital has organized a knee
check up camp especially for elders of Dada Dadi club, Borivali. The
camp is likely to benefit 5,000 elders from the area. The camp is on
till July 31 at Apex Hospital in Borivali and will offer check-ups,
X-ray and consultation to senior citizens.
Dr Vividh Makhwana, knee replacement surgeon and orthopedician at the
hospital said, "Knees get eroded with age. We have noticed that senior
citizens suffer from knee and hip joint disorders and are then advised
to undergo replacements.It is necessary that the senior citizens get
proper treatment and awareness of their bone health. Senior citizens
should enjoy their life at their fullest and have fun while they can
but they should also see that they often have proper health checkups.
Hence we have organized this camp for them."
The screening is free for all senior citizens and if anyone is found
to be suffering from problem, they will be offered treatment with
20-30% discount, the hospital has said.
