Free Dialysis service for Senior citizens Delhi

FREE DIALYSIS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS in DELHI


Delhi government today said it will soon provide free dialysis services to senior citizens and steps are being taken to ensure that poor people do not face any difficulty in getting free treatment in hospitals.

On the ocassion of the International Day of older persons, the city government's Health Department organised special health camps in 24 of its hospitals.

A large number of senior citizens were handed over spectacles and hearing aids by Health Minister Ashok Kumar Walia and East Delhi MP Sandeep Dikshit.

"Due to availability of quality health services across Delhi during the last decade, the average longevity has gone up substantially. The population of persons over the age of 60 years has tripled in the last five decades in India," he said.

In Delhi, there were about 8 lakh senior citizens during 2001, which has increased to 14 lakh as of now.
